Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have remained faithful.

Alfred Ray Mercier, Jr., 67, left the arms of his beloved wife and entered the arms of Jesus on September 17, 2022.

A lifelong resident of McComb, MS, Alfred married the love of his life, Lisa, in 1981. Together they had two sons, Chris and Scott, and 4 grandchildren.

Alfred loved sports and collected baseball cards and other interesting memorabilia. He coached youth baseball and enjoyed watching Scott play the sport.

Alfred and Lisa served in church with commitment and fervor. Alfred spent decades as a deacon at Navilla Baptist Church, where Alfred attended his whole life.

Known as a humble, kind man, Alfred wore a smile everywhere he went. He met challenges with perseverance and a positive attitude.

Being a grandpa brought such joy to Alfred. If you saw him around town, chances are he would be wearing a shirt that bragged about his grandkids. Micah, Chloe, Brandon and Carter knew they were his delight and loved their PawPaw greatly.

Alfred was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Ray Mercier, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Mercier, and his sons Christopher (Ashley) and Scott (Sarah). He is also survived by his mother Jeannette Mercier, his siblings Steve Mercier (Cindy) and Laurie Sudduth (James), and a host of uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

Pallbearers will be Steve Mercier, Brent Mercier, Adam Mercier, Cheyenne Coghlan, Mike Boggs and William Pannell, with Carl Linton serving as an Honorary Pallbearer.

A heartfelt thank you to all who have loved Alfred and Lisa, especially to the faithful Navilla community.

Visitation for Alfred will be at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb from 5-8pm, Tuesday, September 20. Please celebrate Alfred's life with us Wednesday, September 21, at 10am at Navilla Baptist Church. Rev. Trent Bilbo will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
