Alney was born on April 2, 1949 in McComb, MS to Bernard Lee Cook and Betty Jean Anderson Cook. He was a member of East Fork Baptist Church, and a valued member of the East Fork community. He was a US Army Veteran who served as a radio operator in Vietnam from July 1969 until February 1971. He owned his own business and worked most of his life as an appliance repairman covering the southwestern territory of Mississippi. AC was also a long-time coach to hundreds of kids at the Summit Dixie Youth Baseball Facility where he spent countless hours teaching children so much more than just baseball. He loved it so much that he continued to coach kids long after his own children were too old to participate. An avid outdoorsman, AC not only enjoyed hunting and fishing himself, but he was
dedicated to sharing his love of the outdoors with friends, family and any child that would give him the chance. His most fond activity was turkey hunting where he is considered an expert by most accounts, and even made his own turkey calls (Clear Clicker) which he openly shared with his friends and family. He was equally exceptional at fishing as well and would spend hours in a boat or wading a river or stream in our beautiful state. His favorite thing to do in the entire world though was to watch his grandchildren and their friends play sports. He spent the majority of his time traveling to and from sporting events to cheer them and their classmates on, and he loved them all dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother Clara Jane Welch Cook, stepbrother Darrell Cook, stepsister Dianne Harrell, Uncle James and Aunt Virgina Cook along with numerous other Aunts and Uncles. He is survived by his Brother and his Sister In Law, Tommy and Patrice Cook, his stepsister Debbie Jane Westbrook, son Chris Cook (Bambi), daughter Sumer Johnston (Ronald) and son Jordan Cook (Racheal), grandchildren Mary Ella Cook, Brody Cook, Tyler Johnston, Sadie Johnston, Charlee Johnston, and Lucas Cook, nieces and nephews, Heather Smith (Chris), Bridget Burris (Gary), John Paul Cook (Jessica), great nieces and nephews, Anderson, Rex, Bayleigh, Joey, Gunner, Annabelle, Tipper, and Parker Kate along with many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cook, Ronald Johnston, Tyler Johnston, Brody Cook, Barry Reeder, Will Caston, Dale Bailey, Bo Langlois, Rick Taylor, Jimmy Paulk, Larry Powell and Dee Barron.
Junior Pallbearers will be Anderson Smith, Rex Smith, Tipper Cook, Gunner Burris, and Lucas Cook.
Honorary Pallbearers are all the kids he coached over the years, all the people he shared time with in the woods and on the water, and everyone he loved.
