Amanda Davis Bates, age 50, passed unexpectedly at her residence on June 21, 2025 in McComb, MS. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven Wayne Bates and four children Colton A. Carr (Hannah) of Summit, MS., Lauren R. Bates of McComb, MS., Kaitlyn M. Bates of McComb, MS., and Steven T. Bates of McComb, MS; her two grandchildren Liam A. Carr and River B. Carr; her parents Dennis Carlton and Judy R. Davis of Smithdale, MS; her brother James P. Davis of Wiggins, MS; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held 5 PM until 8 PM Friday, June 27, 2025 and Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 9 AM until services at 11 AM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pike Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Amanda was born in McComb, MS to Dennis Carlton Davis and Judy Ritchie Davis on June 9, 1975. Mrs. Amanda graduated from South Pike High School in Magnolia, MS in 1993. She participated in cheerleading, basketball, softball, and track during her junior high and high school days. Mrs. Amanda obtained a Paramedic and LPN Certification, AA, and AS from Southwest MS Community College.
Mrs. Amanda worked as an LPN for 9 years and an RN for the past 20 years. During her nursing tenure, she worked with home health, nursing home, and rehabilitation facilities. She always showed sincere concern for her patients, and loved taking care of them. She had the desire to provide them with the best quality care. Mrs. Amanda continuously demonstrated professionalism while carrying out her duties. She was a wonderful mentor who always led from the front. She always provided coaching to all new nurses that she was privileged to work with. Her outgoing personality and attitude always promoted a great work environment.
Her life was dedicated to taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren. Family was everything to her. There was no such limit to the love she gave to all she held dear.
Mrs. Amanda is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Paul B. Ritchie, Louella Lofton Ritchie Kornegay, and Tommy Kornegay and her paternal grandparents Dennis M. Davis and Grace Spencer Davis.
Pallbearers will be Ricki Lewis, Marti Lewis, Rick Hewitt, Warren Wells, Zac Lewis, and Joey Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be James P. Davis (Brother), Colton A. Carr (Son), Steven T. Bates (Son), Dock Boyd (Uncle), Mohammad Schuman (Uncle), and Larry Ritchie (Uncle).
Memorials may be given to the Mississippi Baptist Children's Village.
The family of Mrs. Amanda wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all who were involved in her care during these last few weeks and to all who extended prayers, love, and support for her and her family. May God bless you and your family.
