Anna Marie Redmond Prescott passed away on June 15, 2024, at the age of 95 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, LA. She was born on July 27, 1928, in McComb, Mississippi.
Anna was a loving mother and grandmother, known for her dedication as a nurse. She worked in the nursing field for close to 70 years, retiring at the age of 88. Anna trained as a registered nurse (RN) in Jackson, MS. Her career included roles as a medical- surgical nurse, charge nurse, and nursing supervisor at Ochsner Foundation Hospital for 30 years. Anna was the founder of the Louisiana Association for Healthcare Quality (LAHQ) and held every office, served as the National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) National President, and received the prestigious Claire Glover Award from NAHQ. She was also the founder of Tulane Medical Center's "Call First" program for Utilization Review, the Director of Children's New Orleans Utilization Review Program, and a Delta College Practical Nursing instructor, and received numerous awards and recognitions throughout her career.
Anna worshipped at Red Bluff Baptist Church of Folsom, LA, and enjoyed traveling worldwide for work and pleasure. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her children Michael Prescott (Pam) and Rebecca Prescott Smith (George Sr.), grandchildren Jennifer Prescott, Rachel Prescott Finnigan (James), Gary Michael Prescott (Ashley), George Rayford Smith II (Jaclyn), and Lee Ann Smith White (Clint), as well as great-grandchildren Sophia and Sadie White, Kate and Caroline Smith, Grayson Prescott, and Arabella Grace Finnigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Clyde Redmond of McComb, Mississippi, her multiple siblings, and herhusband, Ellis F. Prescott Jr., also of McComb, Mississippi.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Nurse's Honor Guard service on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home 1801 Delaware Ave, McComb, Mississippi at 10:30 AM. The family will receive guest at 10:00 AM until the time of services. A graveside burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, Mississippi.
Pallbearers will be George Smith Sr., George Rayford Smith II, Clint White, Mitch Ballard, Martin Redmond, and Gary Michael Prescott. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Prescott and Doug Ballard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made by sending kind thoughts, loving memories, nursing notes, or career and life mementos to her daughter, Beckey Smith, to create a collection of legacies of love for Anna's great-grandchildren.
