Obituary

Anne Quintana Brumfield, 98, a resident of McComb, MS; passed away December 12, 2024 at her residence.  Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until services at 11:30 AM.  Burial will follow in the Jesse and Hannah Brumfield Cemetery at Walker's Bridge.  Rev. Donnie Coker will officiate.

Mrs. Brumfield was born July 26, 1926 in McComb to Edmund and Juanita Pizzetta Quintana.  She was the last survivor of their ten children.

She was a member of the body of Christ, raised in the Catholic church and after moving to the Walker's Bridge community, she attended Silver Creek Baptist Church for many years.  She was a devout studier of the Word and would engage anyone who was willing to listen because she said if someone like her can understand the bible, anyone can.

At age 15 she began her career in bookkeeping earning $4.00 a week at The Hollywood Shop.  Her lifespan carried her through The Great Depression, a world war, the greatest natural disaster in US history, and a pandemic.  When asked about it, her response was let me tell you about that Depression.

She continued to use her bookkeeping skills from 1966 through 2020 being directly involved in the financial aspects of the fuel distribution business, eventually Brumfield Oil Company.

Mrs. Brumfield was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pat H. Brumfield, Sr.; son-in-law Victor Fairburn, four brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her son, Pat H. Brumfield, Jr. (Tina), three daughters Patsy Giles (Lawrence); Cyndy Catchings (Bill) and Karen Fairburn, all of McComb; seven grandchildren Blake Giles (Joy), Ben Catchings (fiancé Chelsea), Liam Catchings (Rose), Hannah Catchings (Chase), Christina Mitchell (Chris), Victoria Fairburn Seals and Hillary Fairburn Freeman (A.J.); six great -grandchildren Camille Giles, Onnie Giles, Harrison Mitchell, Chad Seals, Eli Smith and James Victor Smith.

Pallbearers will be Ben Catchings, Liam Catchings, A.J. Freeman, Bobby McDaniel, Chris Mitchell and Charles Wilkinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Capital Campaign, PO Box 1105, McComb, MS 39649 or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to thank St. Luke Hospice and caregivers, Ava, Kathryn, Elaine and Antionette for their loving care and attention to Mrs. Anne Brumfield.
