Obituary

Anthony Odell Sassone, 74, a resident of Osyka, MS, passed away in Jackson, MS at the Baptist Hospital on February 27, 2022.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 10 AM until services at 12 Noon at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Rev. Larry Mizell will officiate. The family has requested casual attire be worn.

Anthony was born on May 19, 1947, in Osyka, MS, to the late Neno and Mary Helen Sigman Sassone.

Anthony was the owner-operator of Sassone Timber in Osyka, MS. He was of the Catholic faith and served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. During the war he was a helicopter mechanic who had a passion to fly; but was not allowed to be a pilot, so he settled for rides whenever he could. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture.  He loved the outdoors especially fishing, but also enjoyed cooking and made a very conscious effort to have everything neat and clean. He was a huge MS State fan and spent a great amount of time with his friends tailgating and being part of the "Rolling Bulldog Club" where he and his wife spent many of days traveling from Starkville and around the country to watch the games. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was especially fond of his dog "Chip" in whom he spent countless hours riding around the lake in his Polaris and fishing. Enjoying the outdoors and riding his bicycle. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was proceeded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of fifty three happy years Sandra Wade Sassone, one son Anthony Christopher Sassone (Sherry), one daughter Shannon Elizabeth Sassone, one brother Robert Otis Sassone, one sister Ethel Francis Sassone, one grandchild Chandler Christine Sassone with numerous nieces and nephews.
