Armond Ray Lea, 96, a resident of Camellia Estates, a lifelong resident of Osyka passed away March 24, 2023 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Terry's Creek Baptist Church from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Terry's Creek Cemetery. Dr. David Millican and Rev. LaVerne Summerlin will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Armond was born on September 26, 1926, in Tangipahoa Parish in the Line Creek community. He was born to Joe Rayborn Lea and Azzie Lee Bryan Lea. Mr. Armond was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of Terry's Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a mason, Rising Glory Lodge in Osyka. He loved to fish and tend to his honeybees. Mr. Armond worked at an operated JR Lea and Sons Lumber Company with other family members, he enjoyed the time spent logging. His family ran a dairy and feed mill together until the passing of his father, after which he ran the dairy. Mr. Armond owned a milk truck and picked up for local dairies. He coached the boy's church softball league when his sons were young. He enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He spent many hours attending the softball and baseball games of his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his spouse of 49 years Avis Wilson Lea, a brother Udell Lea and sister-in-law Pauline Lea, a brother-in-law Marcus Lee McDaniel and a nephew Mark A. McDaniel.
He is survived by his sons Gerald Lea (Debbie) of Magnolia, Dennis Lea (Ricki) of Osyka, Jimmy Lea (Theresa) of Osyka, a sister Joan McDaniel of Osyka, grandchildren Michelle Nunnery (Jeff), Chris Lea (Abbi), Amy Motta (Chris), Corey Lea (Kristin), Derek Lea (Ashley), Jeremey Lea, Kellye Sistrunk (Keith), Brandi Sanders (Nathan), great grandchildren Charley Nunnery, Rosi Jane Lea, Ava Belle Motta, Preston Lea, Anna-Marie Lea, Kelsie Lea, Jessa Lea, Micah Lea, Chloe' Sistrunk, Karrington Ritter, Tucker Sanders, great-great grandchildren Walker James Sistrunk and Haven Grace Sistrunk, along with other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Corey Lea, Derek Lea, Jeremey Lea, Chris Lea, Nathan Sanders and Billy Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Easley and Gene McMichael.
Special thanks to the entire staff of Camellia Estates for the special care given to Mr. Armond Lea during his time there.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gideons International Ministry or to Samaritan's Purse.
