Barbara Ann Edmonds, 83, of Summit, MS passed away July 31, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and will continue on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Bro. E.J. Didon and Bro. Michael Didon will officiate. Graveside services will follow in the Tangipahoa Baptist Church cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Barbara was born on November 4, 1941 in Magnolia, MS to Bertram Royce Welch and Thelma Irene Dickens Welch. She was a member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir. She enjoyed senior trips with New Heights Baptist Church. In her later years she spent time coloring, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. Spending time with her family was a loved activity, serving as a caregiver to many; both family and those she considered hers, along with sitting outside listening to wind chimes and enjoying country gospel music.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 45 years, Ottis "Big O" Edmonds, her oldest daughter Barbara Kay Edmonds, three brothers; Bertram Welch, Bobby Welch and Billy Welch, one sister Carolyn Hamilton, two great grandsons; Ayden Harrington and Levi Didon and a great granddaughter Annslee Didon.
She is survived by her children; Neal Edmonds and fiancée April Coley of Summit, MS, Lisa and E.J. Didon of McComb, and Roger Edmonds of Summit, MS, grandchildren; Kristen Perkins (Juan Posas), Seth Edmonds, Jacob Edmonds (Madison), SaraBeth Edmonds, Justin Didon (Jill), Brandi Leger (Dustin Philebar), and Michael Didon (Kelsey), Joseph Edmonds, Miranda Troutman (Robert), Anah Harrington (Blaine), Joshua Edmonds (Ashley), Johnathan and Nathan Cutrer, and Sadie Hayden, numerous great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Justin Didon, Michael Didon, Seth Edmonds, Jacob Edmonds, Joseph Edmonds and Joshua Edmonds.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice Compassus of McComb for the loving care given to their Mother.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital, Hospice Compassus of McComb or the Make a Wish Foundation.
