Barbara Ellen Forman Simmons Garner, 82, of Magnolia, MS, left this world for her heavenly home on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Barbara was born January 11, 1942 in Magnolia, MS, to the late Ardry Van Forman and Mamie Toney Forman.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 5-8 pm and continue on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 1-3 pm with service at 3 pm for family and friends at Hartman Jones Funeral Home in McComb, MS. Charles Ray officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Barbara was a caretaker at heart and loved taking care of others. She was always giving of herself without wanting anything in return. She loved having her family around her whenever possible. She had many lasting friendships. Her first job was at the Custard stand in Magnolia, MS. She was a longtime employee of K&B Drugs in McComb, MS, at the cosmetic counter, where she loved helping her customers. She was later employed by Southwest Mental Health, where she managed a group home for mentally handicapped boys.
Barbara was a long-time, active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Magnolia, MS, where she was a Sunday school teacher. When she remarried, she joined Magnolia Presbyterian Church, MS, where her husband was a member.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Sandy A. Simmons, her second husband of 25 years, William "B" Garner; three daughters, Janet Simmons Reid, Sandra Faye Simmons, and Jennifer Lee Simmons; one grandson, Matthew Todd Simmons; one sister, Sue Evelyn Forman Stockton, and four brothers, Emerson "Embo" Forman, Noel "Bear" Forman, Jerry "Fat Man" Forman, and Jamie "Foozie" Forman; three sister-in-laws, Betty Bryant Forman, Kay Prine Forman, and Paula Llorens Forman; two brother-in-laws, Aubrey Sandifer and Merle Stockton.
Barbara is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William Lloyd Simmons and Ashley of Magnolia, MS; one son-in-law, Morty Reid of Liberty, MS; her grandchildren, Casey Reid, Marci Reid, and Corey Reid all of Liberty, MS.; one great grandchild, Tyler Whittington Reid of Liberty, MS.
Barbara is also survived by one brother, Glenn Forman (Deborah) of Magnolia, MS; two sisters, Betty Forman Sandifer of Byram, MS, and Mamie Forman Kirk (David) of Pocahontas, TN; one sister-in-law, Cecillia Forman of Woodville, MS; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Evans, Doug Forman, Jarrett Forman, Jamie Fortinberry, Andy Lindahl, and Bobby McDaniel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Progress High School Class of 1959.
