Obituary

Barbara Elaine Rowley Thornhill passed away at her home on November 1, 2022 at the age of 91.

She was born in McComb, Mississippi on July 28, 1931, to the late Amos Rowley and Felicia Hornsby Rowley. She was lovingly called Bobbie by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM at Dinan Baptist Church, Tylertown, MS. Burial will follow at the Enon Cemetery in the Enon Community. Rev. Vernon Thornhill, Jr, Rev. Mike Anderson and Rev. David Parker will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She married Vernon Lee Thornhill, Sr. on February 26, 1949 and they were married for 58 years until his death in 2007. They lived in several states following his work before moving back to Jayess, Mississippi to take over the family farm. This is where they raised their 8 children.

Bobbie leaves a legacy of love. She was committed to her church, family and friends. She was a dedicated member of Dinan Baptist Church and served as the card ministry leader for many years. She was an avid reader and loved her visits to the local library. She enjoyed sewing and making lap quilts. She received great joy in making the quilts and gifting them to not only family, but many, many friends. She also loved to watch the hummingbirds come to her feeders each year.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Lee Thornhill, Sr., parents Amos and Felicia Rowley, grandson Karl Dale Kleppinger, Jr., grandson-in-in-law, Clay Barrett; brothers John Rowley, Amos Rowley Jr., Richard Rowley, Ed Rowley and Jim Rowley; sisters Evelyn Morrison and Myrtle Lee Brown; brothers-in-law Fred Morrison, Leo Brown, James Nations, and Danford Thornhill; sisters-in-law Elsie Rowley, Lola Rowley, Alice Rowley, Becky Rowley, Jamie Nations, Emma Sileci and Rena Thornhill.

Survivors include her sons David (Peggy) Thornhill, Vernon (Polly) Thornhill, Jr., Jimmy Thornhill and Robert (Frances) Thornhill; daughters JoAnn Kleppinger, Barbara Lowery Moulds, Kathy (Perry) Hill, and Felicia (Wayne) Foil; grandchildren Courtney McNeil, Wesley Foil, Amanda Tagert, Brian Lowery, Heather Dunaway, Corinda Barrett, Sara Lowery, Maggie Kleppinger, Thomas Kleppinger, Robert Kleppinger, Karen Kleppinger, John Thornhill, James Lee Thornhill, Christina Knodle, Michael Thornhill, Scott Thornhill, William Thornhill, Chantel Jones, Alicia Parsons, Valerie Satterfield, Natalie Dyer, Christopher Thornhill, Mindy Blankenship and Melissa Winstead; 59 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Foil, Brian Lowery, Michael Thornhill, James Lee Thornhill, John Thornhill, Thomas Kleppinger, Robert Kleppinger, and Christopher Thornhill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Thornhill and William Thornhill.

Special Music will be performed by Nicholas Kleppinger and Stephanie Busbin.

The family expresses special thanks to Deaconess Hospice for your compassionate and thoughtful services.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Dinan Baptist Church, 08 Dinan Church Road, Tylertown, MS 39667.
