Obituary

Bernice Bryant Roberts, 83 of Magnolia, MS died October 28, 2026

Services will be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Magnolia, MS. Visitation from 9-11 am, with service to immediately follow. Rev. John Rushing will officiate and burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia, MS.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Burnis and Allie Mae Bryant, her husband Tyrone “Bullet” Roberts, sister Betty Jane Forman, brothers James Bryant and Donald Roy Bryant, and nephew Jason Powell.

Bernice was born November 21, 1942 and grew up in Magnolia. She met and later married Tyrone on November 21, 1962 and celebrated 59 years of marriage. She was a member of First Baptist Church Magnolia, worked many years in manufacturing plants including Movie Star, Magnolia Garments, and later worked at her brother’s finance office before retiring to become a full-time “Maw Maw”.

Bernice was a U.S. Army wife and gave all she could to support her husband’s military service. And her military support remained true as her children joined U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. She proudly wore the title of “Coast Guard Mom”. However she famously told their recruiter, “That’s it. I don’t have anyone else to give to the military, unless you want the dogs too.” Bernice truly loved and supported her family, and always encouraged them to live the lives they wanted to live.

Bernice enjoyed playing a variety of sports throughout her life, such as bowling, volleyball and slow pitch softball. And could “cut a rug” on the dance floor too, especially when dancing with her sisters.

Bernice made the best corn bread dressing in the county, loved watching her New Orleans Saints, playing slots at the casinos, and just being with her family. Sharing an afternoon coffee on her patio with her husband and family was her favorite activity. Many heart felt conversations and lots of laughter were shared during “coffee time”.

Bernice is survived by her daughter Lisa (John) Wall, son Michael (Nicole) Roberts, grandchildren Sullivan Roberts, Phypher Roberts, bonus grandchildren Ben (Melissa) Wall, Bradley Wall, Amber Nall, Austin Nall, bonus great-granddaughter Lennon Wall. Her sisters Patricia (Larry) Powell, Carolyn (Brian) Reason, sisters-in-law Vicki Bryant, Melody Bryant, Kathy Roberts, and her loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Sullivan Roberts, Austin Nall, Donnie Bryant, Bubba Moak, Dale Wheat, and Kevin Coon.

Bernice’s family wish to express sincere appreciation to her Compassus Care Team (Holly, Areatha, Corey and Shannon), and her aides, LaToyal Taplin and Joyce Johnson.
