Betty Jane
Carruth
April 30, 1939 – September 26, 2024
Betty Jane Carruth, 85, of Summit, MS., passed away on September 26, 2024 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation will be Sunday September 29, 2024 from 1 PM until services at 3 PM at Adams U.M.C. Church in Summit, MS. Rev. Jonathan Tullos will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
Betty was born on April 30, 1939 in Ackerman, MS. She is the daughter of the late Curtis and Mary Martin Robinson.
Betty was a retired Office Manager in the Healthcare system and was a lifelong member of Adams U.M.C. She enjoyed reading, flowered pots and her grand and great-grandchildren. She lived her life for her family. When we think of Mamaw Betty there is one word that especially comes to mind, testament. Betty was kind and tender-hearted, she was loving and merciful, and most of all she had faith beyond measure in her Lord Jesus Christ.
She was a wealthy woman not necessarily in material things but wealthy in the way she lived her life and by all the people who loved her. Betty lived her life as a testament to the way a faithful Christian woman should live. We can all take a page out of Betty's book as an example of how to live our lives. She will be dearly missed here on earth, but she has now received her crown and is rejoicing with Jesus.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband James D. Carruth Sr., and one granddaughter Angel Hudspeath.
She is survived by two sons, James David Carruth Jr., and Michael A. Carruth Sr., (Melissa), two daughters, Sheila Hudspeath (Arthur "Danny") and Mona Hudspeath (Mitch), two sisters, Sammie Weir and Mary Martha Dickerson, eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Drew Carruth, Cameron Carruth, David Carruth, Nick Hudspeath, Conner Davis, Josh Talley and Taylor Simmons.
Honorary pallbearer will be Zachary Hudspeath.
