Bobbie Gaston

On April 4, 2025, Bobbie Gaston Kenna passed from this life into eternal rest. She was born on February 26, 1930 in Noxapater, Mississippi, the daughter of Robert T. Gaston and Gladys Ligon Gaston.
At an early age her parents moved to Calhoun City, MS where she attended and graduated from Calhoun City schools. Mrs. Kenna attended Mississippi State College for Women and graduated in 1952 with a BS Degree in Elementary Education. She taught in the Natchez Public School system for many years at The Institute, Morgantown Elementary School and Adams County Christian School. Her family then moved to McComb, MS where she continued her role as an educator teaching 2nd grade at Otken Elementary School until she retired in 1992.
After moving to Natchez, she met and married her husband, Joseph Eugene Kenna, on August 15, 1953.They made Natchez their home until 1973 when they moved to McComb.
Throughout her career in education, she held memberships in Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of many historical and genealogical organizations: Isaac Ross Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century, Mississippi Chapter of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Judith Robinson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Mississippi Huguenot Society, the Ligon Family and Kinsmen Association and Calhoun County Historical and Genealogical Society. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in McComb and a former member of Pilgrimage Garden Club of Natchez, MS.
She is survived by two sons, Joey Kenna (Lynne) of Forest, MS and Bob Kenna of Memphis, TN; two grandsons, Drew Kenna (Kery) of Forest, MS and Ben Kenna of Matthews, North Carolina; three great grandsons, Mack, Myers and Silas Kenna of Forest, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kenna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Amy Kenna Miller; two sisters, Rebecca Gaston Dye and Mable Gaston; and one brother, Robert Gaston.
A visitation will be held Monday April 7, 2025 from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb, followed by a 12 noon graveside service with Connie Felter officiating. Her grandsons will also participate in the service by providing scripture, prayer and the eulogy. Interment and service will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, MS.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Clairborne, Enhabit Home Health and Hospice and her sitters for their loving care.
