Byron "Sonny" Parker, 88, of Summit, MS passed away Tuesday February 7, 2023 at Diversicare Nursing Home in Brookhaven.

Mr. Sonny was born November 3, 1934 in Amite County to the late Leo and Eleanor Hancock Parker.

He was a retired inspector for Magnolia Electric Power Co. where he worked for over 35 years.  He was also a longtime cattle farmer and he loved going to the Brookhaven sale barn every Tuesday.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of forty-seven years, Shirley Thornhill Parker.

Survivors include his son Burney Parker of Summit; a daughter Rita Parker of California; one sister Annie Barrier Florida; one nephew Trip Barrier and his wife Sharon of Florida; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday at Moak's Creek Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until services at 12:00 noon.  Rev. Mike Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow in the Moak's Creek Cemetery under the direction of Hartman Jones Funeral Home of McComb.

Pallbearers will be Stacy McCaskill, Brain Price, Marshall Belaga-Price, Tracy Lambert, Bobby Gates and Burney Parker.
