Carla Jean Newman, 91, a resident of Summit, MS passed away on February 1, 2026 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at Mars Hill Baptist church cemetery Wednesday February 11, 2026  at 11 AM. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.

Carla was born September 12, 1934 in Casper Wyoming. She was the daughter of the late, Carl M. and Laura Bicknell Harris.

Carla was a Court Clerk for many years, a member of DAR (Judith Robinson Chapter) and was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed reading, planting her favorite flowers (Daffodils), traveling, baking and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband James Newman whom she married in 1950, and one granddaughter Tammy Idelle Seals.

She is survived by her son David Newman (Lori), three daughters, Tera Perini, Barbara Flowers and Linda Newman (Steven Hanisch), a sister Mary Adelle Rankl, fourteen grandchildren, David Seals, Paul Seals, Lauri Thornton, Scott Flowers, Michelle Flowers, Laura Arnold, James Drouin, Jean "Jon" Drouin, Christopher Drouin,  Angela Drouin, Jennifer Newman, Shelley Jones, Nicole Newman and Hannah Long, with numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.
