Carolyn Anne Gordon Boyd, 78, of McComb, passed away of heart disease Friday, July 22, 2022, in the cardiac unit of Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
Carolyn was born October 1, 1943, to the late Charles B. and Jonnie McDowell Gordon. She grew up attending the public Schools of McComb and graduated with the McComb High School Class of 1961. She attended Hinds Community College in Raymond and was a life-long and faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she often served as an Usher.
Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, July 27 th , with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the service starts at 11. Both will be held at Centenary UMC in McComb with Dr. Jonathan Speegle and Connie Felter officiating. Burial will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in McComb. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb is in charge of arrangements.
She lived many years in New Orleans and returned to McComb in the 1970s. She retired as an Administrative Assistant with the Mississippi Department of Human Services after 31 years of service.
Carolyn loved life, travel, cruising with her husband Clif, jewelry, sequins, dressing up, her friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She could be found most days following retirement making the circuit drinking coffee at one of various establishments in McComb with several groups of special friends. Carolyn was anxiously awaiting the reopening of the China Palace.
In recent months, she spent a great deal of time at her daughter's home in DeQuincy, LA., enjoying her grandchildren and making new friends. Small dogs were one of Carolyn's passions, and she would sneak her Daisy in wherever she could.
She was a faithful member of St. Andrews Senior Center where she line-danced, and she was active in Mississippi Methodist Cursillo.
Carolyn was predeceased by husbands Paul Mosbroker and Clifton Boyd.
Survivors include her daughter Paula Rutland (Robby), of DeQuincy, LA, and son Chris Mosbroker, of McComb; granddaughters Jessica Herring (Ryan), of Ragley, LA, Jennifer Taylor (Dustin), of DeQuincy; grandson Colton Rutland, of DeQuincy; great-grandchildren Landon Roberts, Logan Herring, Bailey Herring, and Kaylee Taylor. She had three stepdaughters Trish Fleming and Debbie McWilliams of McComb, and Tracie Humphries of Madison. She also leaves brother Mac Gordon (Mary Lee) of Blakely, GA, and sister Nancy Lazenby of McComb. Survivors include nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and a host of cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. Carolyn was blessed with a large circle of friends, especially Diane Alford Martin, Steve and Rosie Adams, and a large church family.
Pallbearers will be Robby Rutland, Colton Rutland, Ryan Herring, Brian Henry, Bronson Henry, Logan Henry, and Nicholas Henry. Dustin Taylor and Hayes Henry are honorary pallbearers.
