Charles Edward Bigner, 80, of Summit, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 14, 1943, in McComb, Mississippi, Charles was the beloved son of Robert and Blanche Bigner. He grew up in Summit, Mississippi, alongside his siblings Maxine Stoddard, Emma Jean Dunn, Margaret McCallum, Robert Merlin Bigner, and Mary Ellen Smith. He attended Johnston Station/North Pike High School, where he forged lifelong friendships and cherished memories.
After completing his education, Charles embarked on various career paths, including working as a TV repairman and for the railroad, before eventually starting Bigner's Dozer Service, which operated for over 40 years. He was known for his hard work, integrity, and dedication to his craft.
Charles had a passion for raising cattle and cherished the simple joys of family gatherings. He was a devoted husband to Lynda Gay for 60 years, sharing a bond built on love, respect, and companionship. Charles was a loving father to Marty Bigner (Theresa), Debra Dunaway (Dempsey), and David Bigner (Melissa). His grandchildren, Dustin Dunn, Daniel Dunn, Dalton Bigner, Joshua Bigner, Jacob Bigner, Madison Bigner, and Mason Bigner, along with his great-grandson Luke Edmonds, brought him immense joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends, who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.
The funeral service to celebrate Charles's life will be held on May 31, 2024 at Johnston Chapel UMC. Visitation will start at 10am with funeral services from 11am-12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund in memory of Charles Bigner.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
