Obituary

Mr. Charles Douglas Schilling, 85, a resident of McComb passed away at his residence on Friday, August 18, 2023.  Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Centenary United Methodist Church.  Dr. Jim Porter and the Reverend Vicki Landrum will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 4 till 7 P.M. at the church.

He was born August 2, 1938 in Kentwood, Louisiana the son of the late Purvis Leo and Doris Elemes Anglin Schilling.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Claire Schilling and one brother, Clarence Schilling.

Mr. Schilling  was a very active member of Centenary United Methodist Church for over 47 years and was a member of the Pike County Arts Council.  During his working career, he was the owner of Southwest Vending Services and the C Charles Carpet Company and for the past 20 years was the manager of the Sunnyhill Water Association.

He is survived by two sons:  Craig (Angela) Schilling of Acworth, Georgia and Eric (Jennifer) Schilling of McComb.  Two daughters:  Shawn (Shane) Dykes of Summit and Staci Schilling of McComb.  One brother, Leroy Schilling of St. Francisville, Louisiana.  A special, loving, devoted caregiver, Tiffany Hughes Smith.  10 Grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be:  Matthew Dykes; Aidan Dykes; William Rayborn; Mark Hamilton; Kevin Schilling and Anthony Guy.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery with Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Centenary United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
