Dr. Christopher David Garner, 55, a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on June 1, 2025. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Hollywood Cemetery at 2 PM. Dr. David Millican will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Christopher was born on October 30, 1969 to Monica Long Garner and the late William "Bill" David Garner. During his career as a psychologist, Dr. Chris Garner touched the lives of many students, interns, colleagues and patients. He educated and mentored many young mental health professionals while at the Southern Louisiana Internship Consortium, where he also served as training director, the Louisiana State University Psychiatric Residency training program and Liberty University. He served his profession and colleagues as former president of the Louisiana Group Psychotherapy Association, former Ethics Chair of the Louisiana Psychological Association and former Complaints Coordinator for the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Dr. Garner loved his profession and helped many people throughout his career.

He was preceded in death by his father; his paternal grandparents Samuel Garner and Carolyn Garner; and his maternal grandparents James Long and Nelda Long.

He is survived by his mother, Monica Long Garner; his sister Greta Garner (Eric Flynt); his children Simmons Ann Garner, Samuel David Garner, and Grace Elizabeth Garner; one niece Anna Gayle Hudson; one nephew Jonah Lyons Flynt; along with other relatives and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Smith, Greg Ditcharo, and Pat Little.
