Obituary

Clyde B. Bates, 86, passed away October 1, 2022, at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home in McComb, MS from 12:00 PM until services at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Hollywood cemetery.

Clyde was born September 23, 1936 in Jayess, MS to the late Charlie Bates and Bertha Bowlin Bates.

He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.  Clyde graduated from Salem High School in 1955.  After graduation he married his lovely sweet heart Georgia Faye Martin.  He joined the United States Air Force to serve his country soon after the wedding, while in the Air Force they welcomed a baby boy, Mike, to the family; soon after returning home they welcomed a daughter, Beverly.

Clyde and Faye worked in the upholstery business and opened their own mattress and upholstery business in McComb for over 30 years.  Upon retiring, they made Farmerville, LA their home, where they resided for nine years.

In 2012, after 57 years of marriage, Faye passed away. Clyde moved to Tylertown in 2015 and married his current wife Louise M. Johnson Bates

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife Faye, a precious son Mike Bates, his brothers W.C. Bates, Robert Bates, James Bates, Hubert Bates, Willie Bates and Aubrey Bates, his sisters Audrey Ferguson, Doris Perry, Mattie Boyd and Ruby Bates.

He is survived by his wife Louise M. Johnson Bates, his daughter Beverly Eymard (Mike), daughter-in-law Kim Bates, his sister Mary Harvey (Jerry), sister-in-law Louise Bates, grandchildren Chasity Albritton (Michael), Lacie Eymard (Raimy), Casie Parker (Daniel), Josh Greer (Dana), Brandie Matherne (Jody), Amber Saterfiel (Logan), Courtney Antil (Brady), Laynie Roan (Josh), Christen Forrest (Joey), 20 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Albritton, Raimy Eymard, Daniel Parker, Josh Greer, Logan Saterfiel, Jody Matherne, Brady Antil, Josh Roan, Tyler Albritton.

Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandsons.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association in honor of Abigail Saterfiel, his great granddaughter, who is living with diabetes.
