Connie Roxanne Nelson, 67, of Smithdale, MS, formerly of McComb, passed away August 31, 2026, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb.

Mrs. Nelson was born April 27, 1959 to Roxie Wells Wilkinson and Derrell Fred Wilkinson. A member of Temple Hill Church of Christ, her many friends and family described her as having a big heart that was loving and generous.

She is survived by her loving husband of twenty-six years, Jason Nelson, of Smithdale, MS, her daughters, Lacey Elaine Jackson Dunaway, Anna Danielle Jackson (son-in-law, Dustin Searle), and Jennifer Jackson; and Mrs. Nelson’s son, John Jackson Theriot; eleven grandchildren, Ashley (fiancé José) Dunaway, Matthew Dunaway, Noah Dunaway, Aidan Jackson, Bella Creel, Chesney Creel, Connor Creel, Jacob (Areanna) Petty, Mekaylia Petty, Karstyn Boyanton, and Temperance Boyanton; and six great-grandchildren, Aria Sessums, Elijah Hernandez, Shawn Phelps, Zaiden Petty, Takoma Petty, and Elianah Jade Strickland. Mrs. Nelson had looked forward to the birth of her 7th great-grandchild, William Abel Strickland, next month.

Mrs. Nelson also leaves behind her sister Rebecca (Frank) Rives and brother Jay (Angela) Wilkinson, and nieces Haley (Brian) Deal and Hope Askew, and her best friend Tee (John) Smith, and her daughter Erin Smith, both of whom were like family to Mrs. Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Mel Wilkinson.

Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The service will be held at Temple Hill Church of Christ, with the date announced at a later time.
