Obituary

Curtis E. West, Jr., 65 , a resident of Magnolia, MS; passed away February 13, 2022 at his residence.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday, from 1:00 PM until services at 2:00PM in the Hartman Jones Chapel.  Burial will be in the  Jackson Rimes Cemetery.

Curtis was born on October 1, 1956 in Baton Rouge, LA to Curtis E. West, Sr. and Martha Carleen Spradley West.

Mr. West was described as a jack of all trades. He could do just about anything you asked of him. He loved to listen to Music, especially his blues.  He loved his wife Linda E. West and they had so many good times traveling the world working and enjoying life until he had his first heart attack in 2000. They moved back to MS to be closer to family. He has been sick for 22 years. Recently, he fell sick after Linda's 2 nd heart surgery with a GI hemorrhage and double pneumonia, COPD and Cirrhosis and CHF. He fought for so long and he never once complained. His daughter Tonya would come daily to the house and feed him and help in any way she could. He told her that everything would be okay. He also said that his grandma always said that there were five stages of death-anger, dis-belief, questioning why and realizing it and accepting it. He said to Tonya "Baby I guess I've accepted it". Tonya did all she could do to try to keep him positive and he would say it's ok Boo. He said to her I love you whole lots to much. He had never told anyone that but his Mom. He and Linda have weathered a lot of storms together. Their home burned down on Valentine's Day 2021 and they finally got in the new trailer. He was working so hard to get things done. He told Linda I don't have much time left so I'm trying to get it all done. He was such a strong and prideful man and he leaves us with a huge hole in our heart. We know he is better off but it is so painful to not have him here.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents who helped raise him; a special uncle and aunt Joe Spradley and Sandra Spradley; special uncle Johnny Spradley and special friends Tom Bennett and Richard Boyd.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Linda West of Magnolia; a special daughter Tonya Jackson (Chris) of McComb; daughters Cheerie, Tabitha and Nickie West; special grandkids Kristin Pittman, Dana Jackson, Austin Jackson, Tori West, CJ West, Waylon West, Brittany West and great grandsons Gabrielle West and Caiden Pittman, along with many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Boyd, Stevie Todd, Austin Jackson, Chris Jackson, Brandon Travis and Johnny Spradley.

Honorary pallbearer will be his great grandson Caiden Pittman.
