Obituary

Cynthia Tyson Quayle, 87, passed away on April 3, 2024 in Lafayette, Louisiana.  She was born on July 3rd in Lanett, Alabama as the only child to Velma and H.L. "Buddy" Tyson.  Better known as Cindy, she attended nursing school at St. Joseph's Infirmary in Atlanta and graduated as a registered nurse in 1957.  Afterwards, she became an Air Force nurse where she met her husband Leo and they married on July 12, 1959 in Sacramento, California.  They had two children, Jennifer and Chris.

During her husband's naval career, they lived in Philadelphia, PN, Orlando, FL, Washington DC, Jacksonville, FL and Beaufort, SC.  Upon Leo's naval retirement, they settled in McComb, MS in 1978. Cindy refused an Enterprise Journal newspaper subscription because she didn't think they'd live in McComb very long but fell in love with the small town charm and friendliness of the people.  In the over 40 years that she resided in McComb, she was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and enjoyed various clubs & activities such as Parnassus, Junior Auxiliary, Camp Sunshine, and Book Club.  Cindy loved bragging about her grandchildren, going to margarita girl's night, and cheering on the University of Alabama football team (much to the dismay of her LSU friends).  She was a Southern woman to the core and entertained her friends, family and strangers with her wit and brutal honesty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo.  Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jennifer Quayle Eisler and her husband, John; her son, Chris Quayle and his wife Dawn; and three grandchildren, Andrew Eisler (Jenee), Adam Eisler, and Brittany Quayle Bowen (Preston).

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Audubon Hospice as well as Rosewood Assisted Living for the loving care they provided Cindy during her time of need.

Visitation will take place at Centenary United Methodist Church in McComb at noon on April 10, 2024 with services at 1:00 pm.
