Obituary

Danney H. Bullock, 73, of Summit, MS, passed away December 10th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Survived by his wife, Wanda Yarborough Bullock (Summit, MS), Daughter and Son-in-law, Ashley and Ronnie Clark (Flowood, MS) and Son and Daughter-in-law, Chris and Allison Williams (Summit, MS); And grandchildren: Lochlan, Jay, Silas, and Mae Mae Clark; Emilie, Ellyn, and Tate Williams. Preceded in death by parents, M.H. and Emma Bullock and his brother, Bobby Bullock.

Born December 5th, 1949 in Laurel, MS, Danney was a lifelong lover of music, serving as Drum Major at R.H. Watkins High School, and graduating from Jones Jr College and USM with a degree in Music Education.

Bullock was Band Director at West Jones Jr. High for many years, where he organized and wrote drills for the marching band to perform at Friday night football games, as well as, numerous marching band contests. He also organized a Jazz Band for the school.

His deep love of music and voice led him to continue in that ministry as Choir Director for many years at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church and spending the last 8 years with New Covenant Presbyterian Church as Music Director.

Putting his exceptional singing voice to use, Danney was a founding member of the gospel group, The Providentials; As well as, a member of Ole Brook Wind Symphony, playing his trombone under the direction of Leroy Smith.

Outside of his musical career and pursuits, Danney retired from the Pike County Assessor's office as an Appraiser and was still working part time for the Jefferson Davis County Tax Assessor's Office as a Property Appraiser, whenever he was not enjoying his time tinkering in the garage or out cutting grass.

A Celebration of Life service will be held December 17th at Johnston Chapel United Methodist Church, 2093 Chapel Dr, Summit, MS. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 AM with a service following at 11 AM conducted by the Rev. Chad Yarborough.
