Obituary

Darin Dykes Newman, 59, a resident of Gillsburg, MS passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at SWMRMC.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Gillsburg Memorial Gardens behind Gillsburg Baptist Church at 2 PM. Bro. Austin Bean will officate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Darin was born on October 12, 1964 to his parents Winston Arnold Newman and Elizabeth Stewart Newman in Nederland, TX.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Maurice D. Newman and Lucille Newman; his maternal grandparents Polie Dykes Stewart and Lois Stewart; his mother Elizabeth Newman; a sister Betty Nannette Newman; a brother Winston Terry Newman; and a brother-in-law Paul Roebuck.

He is survived by his father Winston Newman; a sister Denise Roebuck (Steve); a brother Dwayne Newman (Marilyn); two nieces Brandi Prater (Allan) and Hayley Goodman (Mark); one nephew Jordan Newman (Weslyn); along with numerous great nieces, great nephews, one great-great niece, great-great nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Williams, Fred Williams, Jarrett Wilson, M.L. Causey, Gary Honea, and Justin Robinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tomas  Prater, Logan Richey, Hugh Ray Hughes, Travis Williams, Kirby Williams and Kenneth Wayne McMillan.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Memorial Gardens in Gillsburg, MS.

Darin grew up in Nederland, TX.  He came to Gillsburg, MS in the mid 80's.  While here he worked for Clyde Goudeau taking care of show Brahman cattle and going to Texas, Florida and other states showing the cattle, he then worked at Exxon Plastic in Baton Rouge, LA.  In later years he worked for Bechtel and various other companies across the United States building power plants.  Since 2016 he took care of his mother and father in their later years.  Darin was truly one of a kind.  He loved his family, friends, but especially his Lord and Savior.  He especially loved all of God's creations.  He loved to sit on his propery looking at and feeding God's Creatures.  To know Darin was to know a true man.  He will be deeply missed by his family and all who loved him.  We love you Darin!
