Mr. Darrell Wayne Chunn, 83, died at Diversicare of Tylertown on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 12 Noon until 3:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church. Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 4:00 PM at the Holmesville Cemetery. Reverend David Hedden will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Chunn was born July 18, 1938 in Fernwood, Mississippi, the son of the late Melvin and Veeta McKlemurry Chunn.
A lifelong resident of Pike County, he was graduated from McComb High School where he played football. He was an electrician and an avid genealogist who traced his family to England and the Chunn Castle. He and his late wife, JoAnn loved to travel, and they went to all the major baseball parks in the United States except 2.
He was a member and deacon of Enon Baptist Church and was a leader for Boy Scout Troop 246 at Navilla Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, of 53 years, Jo Ann Deer Chunn; a daughter, Donna Karen Chunn; a grandson, Jacob Darrell Rand; and a sister, Peggy Ann Bardwell.
Mr. Chunn is survived by his daughters, Dana Rand and husband, Dewayne of Tylertown, Becky Greer and husband, Gregory of Holmesville; four grandchildren, Mary Micah Stephens and husband, Corbin of Collins, Ms, Amy Reed and husband, Jake of Hattiesburg, Hannah Rand of Hattiesburg, and Hunter Rand and wife, Lilly of Tylertown; a sister, Jerry McDaniel and husband, Bobby of Magnolia; a brother, Jimmy Chunn and wife, Ruby of Beulah, MS.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Rand, Jake Reed, Gregory Greer, Dewayne Rand, Corbin Stephens, and Terry Causey.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Great-grandsons, Jace Alexander Baudin, Beau Elliott Reed, Jacob William Rand, and Clifford Tate Stephens.
