Obituary

David R. Godbold, 76, a resident of Osyka, MS, passed away on October 18, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be Friday, October 23, 2026 at West McComb Baptist Church from 10 AM until services at 12 PM. Private family burial will follow and Bro. Hunter Wooldridge will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

David, AKA Bub, was born on December 1, 1949 to the late Thomas Ray and Maria Tillman Godbold. He retired from Percy Quin State Park as an assistant manager after 30 plus years of service. David also worked with the sheriffs office for many years. He owned Delta One Security. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of West McComb Baptist Church. He was a member of the Shriners, a Masonic society. He was a man of simple pleasures. He enjoyed motorcycles and race cars especially at the Pike County Speedway that he helped build. He was an intimidating man, but one of the most selfless people his family ever known. He loved his family, especially his children and his grandchildren whom he could never tell no. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch with a cold Coca-Cola in his hand. He was everybody’s Bub and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

David is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 40 loving years Mary Ann Veal Godbold; five children Mikey Godbold (Laci), Cyndi Laciura (Cole), Britni Davis (Ruston), Whitni Simmons (Adam), and Courtni Elliott (Joey); a bonus daughter Anna Fraiser; six grandchildren Ginger Godbold, Beau Laciura, Allie Laciura, Bear Davis, Eli Simmons, and Lucy Jo Elliott; two siblings Jimmy Godbold (Betty) and Ingrid Hoff (Artie); along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice Compassus for their care, including Shannon, Corey, Holly, Aretha, Candy, and Gina.
