Delilah Mary Lucy Keene Travis, age 84, passed peacefully in her home on April 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 5, 1941, in Summit, Mississippi, one month before Pearl Harbor Day.

Raised in an humble and loving family, as the youngest of four children, Delilah began singing in church with her brother and sister at the age of 12, beginning a lifelong ministry that would bless countless lives. At just 16 years of age, she married the love of her life, the late Bishop G. R. Travis, and together they shared more than 51 years of devoted marriage and ministry before his passing in 2009.

Delilah faithfully served alongside her husband throughout their many years of ministry. Together, they pastored six churches and filled numerous roles on the sectional and district levels in the Mississippi District United Pentecostal Church, International.

In 1989, when Bishop Travis became full-time District Superintendent, Sis. Travis continued to labor faithfully by his side. Together, they traveled throughout Mississippi, across the United States, and into foreign countries, touching the lives of thousands through preaching, singing, and personal ministry. A gifted singer, Delilah recorded albums that have touched thousands of listeners throughout the years.

Delilah organized the first ministers' wives conference in Mississippi, held in the early 1980s at the Jackson College of Ministries campus. As the event grew, it expanded to include all ladies and was moved to the district campgrounds, where Ladies Conferences continue to this day as an annual time of spiritual refreshing.

She will be remembered as a gracious lady, a good listener, and a trusted source of wise and steady counsel. Her life was marked by love, kindness, generosity, hospitality, genuineness, and unwavering faith. Above all, she was a Christian lady in the truest sense of the word, and her legacy of love, peace, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop G. R. Travis, her parents, Estus and Minnie Keene, two sisters, Eva Lambright and Maxine Torres, and one brother, Nelson Keene.

She is survived by three daughters: Bonita Travis Prince, Virginia (Ginger) Travis Majors, and Wanda Travis Marshall; 10 grandchildren and their spouses; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of family, friends, and many others, too numerous to name, who lovingly considered her a mother, grandmother, and cherished friend.

A celebration of life will be held on April 17, 2026, at FPC United in McComb, Mississippi. Visitation will begin at 12:00pm, followed by the memorial service at 2:00pm.
