Dennis Ray
Wall
October 26, 1945 – April 11, 2023
Dennis Ray Wall, 77, was born in Gillsburg, MS on October 26, 1945, to Leslie and Georgia Young Wall. Dennis Ray fought a valiant battle against cancer since March of 2011 but went home to meet his Savior on April 11, 2023, in his home with his wife of 51 years, Martha, and his family at his side.
A visitation will be held Saturday April 15, 2023 at the Osyka City Cemetery from 10 AM until a graveside service at 10:30 AM with Army Honors. Rev. Jacob Williams will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb will be in charge of arrangements.
Dennis Ray grew up in Gillsburg, and then migrated to Osyka; MS. Dennis Ray served his country in Viet Nam upon returning home he began a career of driving trucks for various companies. He was a sought after "truck driver" not only due to his professional skills but his exceptional care of equipment and ability to keep his truck much more than clean made him in demand for sure. In 1988, Dennis Ray began working with his brother, Bob, for Wall Timber in the logging industry. Their brother, Larry joined the company later so all three brothers worked together for a time. Dennis Ray worked with Wall Timber until his retirement on June 26, 2015.
Dennis Ray was a family man and a God fearing man. Being the oldest son, he took many responsibilities with his younger brothers and sisters. Martha and Dennis Ray married January 22, 1972, and stayed devoted to each other for all those years. He loved his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all his heart. Each daughter received a daily phone call filled with love and fatherly advice. He also called his older sister, Pauline, nightly to check on her. His brothers, Larry, and Bob were also on his daily call list. Bob often called Dennis Ray for updates on the weather, due to Dennis Ray's long interest in the weather due his logging for so many years.
Dennis Ray also loved his home and mowing the grass was a precise task. Upon becoming too ill to do this chore very few were trusted to take over this to his standards. Washing a vehicle was also something he loved to do, but it had to be done correctly!
Dennis Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Georgia Wall, and a younger sister, Mildred Wall Bates.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Martha, his 5 daughters, Connie, Sherri, Karen, Sharon and Sierra. His 8 grandchildren, Earl (Ashley),Zach, Devin, Dylan, Kobe, Ayanna, Toni, Haylie Sue and his 6 great-grandchildren Ashton, Alan, Elle, Aiya, Raylon and Londyn.
He is also survived by his sisters Pauline Hollingsworth and Charlotte Rayburn (Glenn), brothers, Larry Wall (Pam) and Bob Wall (Kim). He also has numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews that survive him.
In lieu of flowers please feel welcomed to make a donation to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
