December 2, 1937 – June 1, 2024
George Donald "Don" Geddie, Sr., 86, of Magnolia, MS passed away at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center on June 1, 2024.
Visitation will be at McComb First Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 9:00 AM until services at 12:00 PM. Graveside services will follow in Laurel, MS at Tucker's Crossing Baptist Church cemetery at 3:00 PM. Dr. Woody Rimes will officiate. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Blake Thomas, Ryan Geddie, Khiron Harris, Steve Geddie, Hunter Lightsey, and Wesley Geddie.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Brown, Clyde Goudeau, Phillip Russell, Earl Alford, Mitch Bonds, Ed Griffen and Mike Scheel.
Don was born December 2, 1937 in Sandersville, MS to Vern Hilbun Geddie and Gertrude Smith Geddie.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McComb, where he served as a Deacon. He graduated from Central High School in 1955 and attended Hinds Junior College. Don participated with the First Baptist Church McComb by visiting McComb Nursing and Rehab each Sunday ministering to staff and residents. He was affectionately known as the "Bee Man" around McComb. He loved charming his bees. He was a member of the Mississippi Bee Keeper's Association. He was on the Fairground Board for many years and also on the Salvation Army Board. He served his God, church, friends and family on many levels and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sara Meeks Geddie, two brothers Vern Geddie and Bob Geddie, and a stepson Richard H. Johnson, III.
He is survived by his wife Wilda Hart Geddie of Magnolia, his children April Geddie Thomas (Blake) of Quitman, MS, Chip Geddie (Dina) of Mandeville, LA, Scott Geddie of Moselle, MS, and Chan Geddie of Laurel, MS, seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two sisters Anne Landrum, and Jan Delk (Jack), along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers donations made in Mr. Don Geddie's honor can be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude's Hospital for Children, or a charity of your choice.
