Donald Ray
Morgan
November 29, 1942 – December 6, 2022
Mr. Donald Ray Morgan, a dedicated husband, father, pawpaw, and uncle, passed away surrounded by his family on December 6, 2022 at the age of 80.
Please join his family in the celebration of his life Friday, December 9, 2022 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home in McComb, MS from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Graveside services will be at Noon, Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery at Pricedale, MS. The Reverends Emon White and Jeff Frank will officiate.
Donald was born to the late Woodard and Annie Morgan on November 29, 1942 in McComb, MS. He graduated from Carter's Creek School in 1960. He then started his 30 plus years as a mechanic, working for Kellwood Company in McComb. He was an avid cattleman, being a member of the Mississippi Cattlemen's Association, raising cattle his entire adult life. Through the years, Donald enjoyed coon hunting with nephews and friends. Later in life, he found a passion for rabbit hunting and training beagles. He loved sharing his love of the farm with his nieces, nephews, children, and grandchildren. His biggest passion was creating a legacy his family could be proud of, one that honored God. He lived his life walking in the footsteps of Jesus. He was the same at home as he was in public, a man of character, integrity, and faithfulness.
Donald met his wife, Faye Morgan, and 9 years later they welcomed their daughter, Rhae Emile Morgan Blake, into the world. They called the Pricedale area their home for the 46 years of their marriage and were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Pricedale.
Donald is survived by his wife, Faye Wicker Morgan. His children: Rhae (Jason) Blake of Jayess, MS; Molly Byrd of Jayess, MS; Jimmy (Karen) Beard of Daphne, AL; and Danny (Pamela) Beard of Brandon, MS. Sibling: Annie Jo McCullough of Pricedale, MS. Grandchildren: Alan (Kristen) Byrd; Ricky (Taylor) Byrd; Laurel (John-Mark) Harris; Kaylie Beard; Alyssa Beard; Maggie Beard; Megan Beard; Carolyn Beard; Ryan Beard; Angala Blake; Mason Blake; Jaydan Blake; and Joshua Blake. Six great-grandchildren. Nieces and Nephews: Mary Ann (Greg) Adams; Nancy (Jimmy) Rowell; Mitch (Regina) Morgan; Robbie (Shari) McCullough; and Sheila Morgan. A host of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Woodard and Annie Morgan, his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Mary Morgan, his nephew, George Morgan, his niece, Vickie McCullough, and his brother-in-law, Bobbie McCullough
It was noted about Donald that he had a passion for the simple things in life. He looked for the first flock of robins each year to welcome in winter and listened for the first song of the whip-o-will and turkey gobble to welcome in spring. His heart was as big as all the outdoors. He loved nature, but most of all, he loved its Creator. He may have had a small frame, but he was a giant of a man.
Pallbearers will be: Everett Thornton; Robbie McCullough; Ross Morgan; Calvin McEwen; David Alexander, Jr.; Ryan Beard; Mason Blake; and John-Mark Harris.
His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of Enhabit Hospice and Lacey Bennett's caregiver service for their care and attention during his last days.
In case of rain on Saturday, please call Hartman-Jones Funeral Home (601-684-3811) to confirm service time and place.
