Doy Lane Burnette, 48 of Jayess, MS passed from this life October 26, 2022.

Doy was born on March 1, 1974 in Jayess, MS to Linda Bennett and the late Rev. Major Burnette.

He was loved by everyone who knew him and had a heart of gold and he was such a kind soul.  His greatest joy was spending time with his children, family and friends.  He was a hard worker and enjoyed working at Wallace Carpet Barn.  He loved to have fun and was always a joy to be around.  Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors.  When his Aunt Ilean became sick, he moved in with her and took care of her until she moved into the nursing home.

He is preceded in death by his father, Rev. Major Burnette; his grandparents Emory and Donis Ham; Elwin and Magdealine Burnette; Great Grandparents Vernell and Oneida Burnette; George and Ruby Etheridge.

Survivors include his parents, Linda and Darrell Bennett; his two sons, Jordan (Kaci) Burnette, and Collin Burnette; along with their mother, Traci Sumrall; 5 brothers, his twin brother Troy (Haley) Burnette, Neil (Brandi) Burnette, Major (Penny) Burnette, and Mickey (Lacy) Bennett; two sisters Charlotte (Chad) Dentry and Amy (Worth) Smith; a very special aunt Ilean Brister; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday at New Bethel Jesus Name Church 88 New Bethel Rd. Jayess, MS from 11:00 AM until services there at 3:00 PM.  Rev. Gary Robinson, Rev. Bobby Lambert and Rev. Jerry Terrell will officiate under the direction of Hartman Jones Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the New Bethel Cemetery.
