Edith McKenzie Thornton, 89, of Osyka, MS passed away November 25, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM, Bro. Eric Moak will officiate.  Burial will be in Mt. Olive cemetery.

Edith was born in Pike County, MS on June 11, 1934 to William Ottice McKenzie and Beulah McKenzie, one of eight children.  She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church for most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband JL Thornton, four sisters Alice Freeman, Nell Allred, Donnis Watts and Lowrean Albritton, three brothers Jabus McKenzie, Kelly McKenzie and Louie D. McKenzie.

She is survived by her three children Harris Thornton (Cindy) of Tylertown, Judy Bond (Bobby) of Smithdale and Nenna Evans (William) of Osyka, six grandchildren Jeffrey Thornton (Melanie), Timmy Thornton, Jonathan Carraway (Traci), Jeremy Carraway (Kim), William Reedy, Danielle White (Beaux) and numerous great grandchildren, along with other relatives and many friends.
