Obituary

Eileen Pearl Hutchinson Cato (beloved mother) born August 30, 1919, passed peacefully on September 6, 2026, at home surrounded by family.

Happily married for 63 years to Joseph W. Cato of McComb until his passing in 2005.

She helped her husband operate the family business, Cato Shoe Shop, in McComb for 60 years.

She was a faithful daughter of Christ and a member of J.J. White Presbyterian Church for 76 years. She was an inspiration to many and loved by all in her church family.

Eileen is proceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph W. Cato. As well as, her mother and father; Robert Hutchinson and Velma Whittington. She is also proceded by, her two brothers and four sisters; Nolan Hutchinson, J.R. Hutchinson, Donis May, Florence Gatlin, Elease Deer, and Audrey Wilson.

She is survived by her devoted son, James W. Cato (Carol) of McComb, two bonus granddaughters; Aubree Porter (Jeremy) of Foley, AL, and Megan McKenzie (David) of Gautier, MS. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly.

Pallbearers will be James W. Cato, Randy Brownell, Arne Kristinsen, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Quinn, and Kenneth Gatlin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Andy Watson and Dr. Chris Bracey for taking care of Eileen for many years. They would also like to thank the excellent staff of Compassus, and Dr. Luke Lampton who provided compassionate and gentle care for Eileen for the last seven months.
