Mrs. Elsie Wells, 78, a resident of Magnolia, MS died on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 12 Noon at Unity Baptist Church. The Reverends Randy Dunn and Jeremy Greer will officiate. Burial will be in the Unity Church Cemetery with Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
She was born January 15, 1944 in Liberty, Mississippi. She was the daughter of the late Leon Horace and Lucille Welch Kirkland.
Elsie was a devoted wife of 60 years to the love of her life, Dan Wells. She was the most loving Mother and Grandmother, best known as MeMe. A faithful member of Unity Baptist Church, a dedicated employee of Trustmark National Bank for over 30 years. She loved serving others and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Daniel Wells; one brother, Charles Kirkland; and one sister, Dorothy Love.
Mrs. Wells is survived by two daughters, Pam Wells Etter and husband, Bob of Prairieville, Louisiana, and Danette Wells of Magnolia; one brother, Jerry Kirkland of Liberty; one sister, Betty Callendar of Liberty; three grandchildren, Kristin Rossi (Jonathan), Tyler Cheramie (Nicole), and Jacob Etter; one great grandson, Jude Michael Cheramie.
Pallbearers will be Chris Cheramie, Bob Etter, Tyler Cheramie, Jonathan Rossi, Jacob Etter, and Ricky Wells.
Honorary pallbearer will be R.D. Kirkland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery fund.
