Etta Vera Freeman Seago, 93, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly of McComb, Mississippi, passed away on February 3, 2025. She was born on September 23, 1931, in Pike County, Mississippi, daughter of Clarence and Blanche Freeman. Etta Vera was a homemaker and a member of West McComb Baptist Church.
Etta Vera's journey was marked by her deep love for faith and family, serving as a pillar of strength, support and joy. Her greatest achievements were devoting her time to God's work and being a loving spouse, devoted mother, and proud grandmother. She embodied the grace of a true southern lady. Every person she encountered knew they were truly special and important to her. One of her strengths was never meeting a stranger and being able to talk to anyone and make friends wherever she went.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years Dalton Gilbert Seago, her parents, her sons Larry Seago and Bobby Seago, grandsons Alan Terry and Logan Terry, and her brother, Herman Freeman.
Survivors include her daughter Lisa Seago Henley (Mark) of Ringgold, Georgia, daughter-in-law Patti Seago of Smithdale, Mississippi and granddaughters Ann Seago Coney (Beau) of Smithdale, Mississippi, Amy Seago Adams (Charles), Keri Seago Sanders (Brian) of Magnolia, Mississippi, and Katie Seago Temple (Podgey) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and ten great-grandchildren Cole Smith (Breanna), Avery Coney, Dock Seago Adams, Ann Allyse Adams, Taylor Gatlin, Lola Gatlin, Layne Gatlin, Georgia Temple, Hastings Temple, and David Temple, a sister-in-law Mary Freeman of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and two special nieces Debbie West (Garnett) and Ann Gilbert (Louis)
There will be a private memorial service for Mrs. Seago's family under the direction of Hartman Jones Funeral Home McComb, MS
