Obituary

Thomas Geoffrey (Geoff) Hodgson, 79, of Magnolia, Mississippi died July 21, 2023, in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 26 th 11:00 am, at the Magnolia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danny Speed officiating.

Mr. Hodgson was born April 27, 1944, in Laurel, Mississippi, the son of Emory Riddling (Lou) Hodgson, Jr. and Fredricka Haynes (Pete) Hodgson.  He graduated from Picayune High School where he was Mr. Picayune High School and a member of the basketball team and band.  After graduation he enrolled in Pearl River Junior College and later attended the University of Mississippi, pledging Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a member of the Mississippi Air National Guard. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Mr. Hodgson began his career in Jackson, Mississippi, later moving his family to Magnolia, Mississippi. He was actively involved in the Magnolia United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer, Administrative Board member, and a member of the choir.

A man of many hobbies, he was a car and motorcycle enthusiast, but his lifetime passion was golf. He especially loved playing with his TAGA friends at Fernwood Country Club where he was affectionately known as Daddio. He served numerous years as the assistant golf pro at Fernwood. On the golf course he formed many enduring friendships and will be especially remembered for his sharp wit.

Mr. Hodgson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Geoffrey Reid Hodgson and wife Lisa, Jennifer Jane Hodgson Hutson and her husband Mike, grandchildren Olivia Brekelle Hodgson, Lilly Haynes Hodgson, Emma Hodgson Wallis and her husband Braxton, William Reid Hodgson, John Matthews Hodgson, Michael Haynes Hutson, Elizabeth Hancock Hutson, Emory Caroline Hutson and Mary Harper Hutson, a sister Pam Hodgson Lowery and Roger, Mike Hodgson and Kay, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Magnolia United Methodist Church, Methodist Children's Home, or Baptist Children's Village.
