A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Georgia Boyd Hewitt quietly took her last earthly breath on June 5, 2024. She slipped from her son's arms into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Following a stroke, Georgia was moved into St. Joseph's Hospice in Gulfport, where many family members and friends took turns sitting beside her.

Georgia was born on August 11, 1936 in Pricedale, MS and Moved to Summit, MS where she married Elwin Hewitt. She remained in Summit where she raised her family. She was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a member of West McComb Baptist Church.

She is survived by her brother Bennie Boyd (Mabel) and sister Jessie Boyd; two sons, Stan Hewitt and Rick Hewitt (Stephanie), and daughter-in-law, Elaine Hewitt; sister-in-law, Kathy Boyd; eight grandchildren Corey, Lindsey, Grayson, Shellie (Blake McDonald), Cameron and Codie Hewitt, Andrew and Dylan Nauman; six nieces and nephews Robyn Shidler (Mitch) Benjamin Boyd, Traci Johannson (Michael), Burt Boyd Jr. (Judy), Millie Young (Ricky), Keith Howell, and lifelong friend, Virginia Adams.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Rena Hux Boyd; a sister Kay Howell, brother Burton Boyd; husband Elwin Hewitt; son Steve Hewitt, and an infant son, Greg Hewitt.

A visitation will be held Saturday, June 8, 2024 at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 10 AM until services at 12 PM. Burial will be at Whittington Cemetery. Rev. Kent Campbell will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Jason Tate, Treyce Felter, Ron Johnston, Corey Hewitt, Keith Howell, Ricky Young, Grayson Hewitt, and Blake McDonald.
