Gladys Oakes Moak,91, of McComb, MS passed away at her daughters home on June 23, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
A graveside service will be held Monday June 26, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Barron-Bethany Cemetery in McComb. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb will be in charge of arrangements.
Gladys was born on November 28, 1931 in Norfield, MS., to the late Walter R. and Ruth Freeman.
Gladys was a homemaker and a member of the South McComb Baptist Church in McComb. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grand, great-grand and great-great grandmother. She was well known by many, many people, she was very friendly, and never met a stranger.
She helped everyone any way she could. She loved to babysit and entertain children. She loved the church and her Lord. She was a God fearing woman and lived everyday by faith. She always saw the best in people. She loved company and family time. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Sydney Oakes and Carlos Moak, one son John David Oakes, eight siblings and one grandson, Jerry Haney Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Glenda Oakes Haney, three grandchildren William Vanover (Anna), Gidget Vanover, James Allen Vanover (Elizabeth), four step-grandchildren, Paul Haney (Von), K.J. Haney (Johnell), Deborah Freeman and Beth Bordeaux (Duana), with multiple great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
