Harold "Lamar" May, 86, of McComb, MS passed away at Southwest MS Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS on March 24, 2023.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 26, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb, MS. Visitation will resume Monday, March 27 at West McComb Baptist Church, from 12 PM to 2 PM, with service at 2 PM at West McComb Baptist Church. Rev. Vann Windom will officiate and burial will be at Pike Memorial Gardens in McComb, MS.
Lamar was born on July 11, 1936 to the late Lawrence Homer and Louanna Smith May.
Lamar was the owner-operator of Lamar May Alignment and Brake Shop in McComb. He was a member of West McComb Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director. He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend. Lamar loved the Lord and his job of over sixty years which he considered his ministry. He never met a stranger and he loved those that he served and worked with. He also loved fishing. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanie May, one son Glen May, one grandson Cory W. Hart.
He is survived by his wife Doris Nickels May, two sons Tommy May (Joy) and Michael Hart; two daughters Jan Alexander (Wendell) and Kathy Sasser (Larry); one daughter-in-law Pat Reeves May; one sister Juanita Seale; eleven grandchildren Jennifer Privatte, JR Alexander (Crystal), Canaan May, Josiah May, Stephen May, Shelby May, Lane Sasser, Dustin Sasser, Blake Sasser, Heather Hart, and Lorri Hart; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one niece Belinda Jones and one nephew Byron Stinson.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hardy, Josiah May, Jimmy Johnston, JR Alexander, Canaan May and Lane Sasser.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Stephen May, Joshua Privatte, Amos Whittington, and Matthew Wallace.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crisis Pregnancy Center of Southwest MS, 647 Delaware Avenue, McComb, MS or West McComb Baptist Church building fund, McComb, MS.
