A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she was married to the love of her life, Albert Haley Newman, for 64 years until his death in September 2014. In later years, she was affectionately called "Ana" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Newman was a longtime member of J. J. White Memorial Presbyterian Church and later the New Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was very active in her church serving as Sunday School teacher, Bible School leader, and circle chair for many decades. Her faith was strong, and she looked forward to eternal life in Heaven to be reunited with her family and friends.
Mrs. Newman was very active for decades in several social clubs: McComb Junior Auxiliary, Parnassus, Crescite, and the Flower Lovers Club. She served as President and other positions of each of these clubs. She was very honored to serve as the McComb Junior Auxiliary's Azalea Queen in 1989.
Mrs. Newman loved her family and is survived by her son Daryl Magee Newman (Karen) of Madison; two grandchildren - Matthew Newman (Crystal) of Clinton and Emily Ward (Michael) of Madison; 5 great grandchildren - Rivers, Tucker, and Bo Newman; and Cruz and Tristan Ward. She is also survived by her brother Conway Magee; sister-in-law Nita Magee; great nephew Jonathan Magee and his family; and special family friends who were like daughters - the Brumfield girls (Janet, Brenda, and Betsy).
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her beloved sons David and Gary.
Pallbearers will be her grandson Matthew Newman, Michael Ward, David Kavanay, and Richard Cade.
