Mrs. Helen Pennington, 96, a resident of Bossier City, Louisiana died at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Bossier City on Friday, January 13, 2023.
Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Amite River Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Brad Franklin will officiate. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born January 3, 1927 in Amite County, Mississippi the daughter of the late Walter and Nannie Lea Hurst Seymour.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack R. Pennington and two brothers, Walter and William Seymour.
Mrs. Pennington graduated as salutatorian from Liberty High School and later as valedictorian at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond where she was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was an elementary school teacher. During her childhood, she served as church pianist at the Amite River Baptist Church. She loved gardening, bush-hogging and riding four wheelers and during the last 20 years of her life, she spent each summer in Homer, Alaska where she would watch glaciers from her home windows.
She is survived by one son, Richard Pennington and wife, Teresa of Benton, Louisiana; one daughter, Mitzi Kay and husband, Mark of Benton, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Krista Terracina and husband, John and Jack Pennington and wife, Courtney; four Great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Brodie, Dani, and Jack.
