Huey Deryl Miller, age 69, of Baton Rouge passed away peacefully after a lengthy but well fought battle with cancer. He won that battle when he went home to be with his Savior on July 15, 2022.

Deryl was born in November 23, 1952 to Huey Garrett "Buddy" and Avis Lynn Miller in McComb, Mississippi. He graduated from McComb High School in 1970 and from Southwest Junior College in 1972.

He then attended the University of Mississippi majoring in Political Science. After college, Deryl worked for many years with Marathon Oil Company then started his own companies Enviroprobing and Miller Services, respectively. Throughout his career, he also worked as a heavy equipment operator.

Deryl loved sports and excelled in baseball. He was a pitcher and All-Star while playing Dixie Youth and High School baseball in McComb. He went on to play at Ole Miss walking on in his Junior year there.

He was passionate about anything and everything outdoors. He especially loved hunting and fishing as well as camping, gardening and creating exciting adventures with friends. He enjoyed riding horses and competed in cutting horse fortuities.

He was a gourmet cook and a master griller. Most of all, he enjoyed sharing meals and good times with friends. He loved his family and friends and nothing made him happier than a good gathering. Above all, Deryl was dedicated to helping others in need throughout his entire life.

Deryl was preceded in death by his father, Buddy and his brother-in-law Chuck Stubbs. He is survived by his mother Avis Lynn, his sister Angie (Jack), his niece Katie (Joseph) and his great niece Evelyn Kate.
