Ilse M Sterling, 86, of Liberty, MS passed away March 08, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Whittington Memorial Church in Liberty from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday, March 12 from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow in Whittington Memorial Cemetery.

Ilse was born in Bayreuth, Germany on March 28, 1937, to Gottfried Ledermann and Paula Kollumannberger Ledermann. She was a member of Whittington Memorial Church in Liberty. She worked for Carters and Field Hospital in Centreville for many years.  She interpreted German at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Plant.  She loved animals, and enjoyed traveling with her husband while he was in the military.  She enjoyed flowers and being outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Timothy James Sterling, a sister Hannelore Schmatz, a brother Dieter Ledermann.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Jim Sterling of Liberty, her daughter Pat Sterling Smith (Wayne) of Liberty, MS, a brother Gerhard Ledermann (Hiltrud), grandchildren Rebecca Budd, Samantha Coleman (H.A.), great grandchildren Harrison Sterling Heflin and Anson Wayne Coleman, along with other relatives and many friends.
