James "Jimmy" Floyd Freeman Jr. of Hattiesburg, MS died December 30, 2022 at his home at the age of 78.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2023 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 10 AM to 11 AM with services at 11 AM. Fr.Tomasz Powroznik and Fr. Ken Ramon-Landry will officiate and burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit, MS.

Mr. Freeman was born on February 13, 1944 in Paso Robles, California. He was born to the late James Floyd Freeman Sr. and Christine Elaine Hunt Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents Henry Clay Freeman and Ruby DIckerson Freeman and Fondren and Lilly Morris, cousins Carolyn Deer and Mitchell Wallace, and his beloved pet cat, Purrdy.

He is survived by one aunt, Bobbie Alexander and his cousins Sharon Roberts (Lamar), Dianne Russell (Danny), Gerald Wallace (Cindy), Gary Freeman (Sandra), Jeffrey Freeman (Susan), Keith Freeman (Marilyn), Beth Borgstede, Mary Ann Hoyt, Jeanette Durio, and James "Jim" Roberts.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hattiesburg, MS. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi and graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor degree in Sciences and Accounting. He retired as a state auditor for Mississippi, and was also a member of the Amite County Historical and Genealogical Society. After he retired, he was the owner of Dandy Lion Antiques Gifts and Collectibles with stores located in Mississippi and Alabama.

Pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
