Obituary

Jean R. Sanders, 94, of McComb, MS passed away on November 20, 2022 at the McComb Nursing and Rehab Center in McComb, MS.

Visitation will be on Friday November 25 , 2022 from 10 AM until services at 12 Noon PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Dr. David Millican will officiate and burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.

Mrs. Sanders was born on March 4, 1928 in Summit, MS. She was the daughter of the late W.M. and Julia Bell Roberts.

She graduated High School from Johnston Station High School in Summit. She retired from Southwest MS Regional Medical Center after thirty years of working in Outpatient Registration. She loved to travel and cook for her family and friends. Many have enjoyed her homemade sourdough bread through the years. She was an active member of Lifepoint Nazarene Church in McComb, and made it a point at McComb Nursing and Rehab to be a blessing to all she came in contact with on a daily basis. She wanted the staff and others residents to see Christ in her life.

She is preceded by her parents, her first husband Charlie Sanders, one granddaughter Leslie Pigott, her brothers Bonnie, Clarence,David and Willie Roberts, her sisters Laura Holiday, Maggie Roberts, Maybelle Jernigan, Maude Bardwell, Ernstine Nix and Edna Borch, son in-law George Sonny Landry.

Survivors include her three children Keith Sanders (Karen) of McComb, Judy Landry of McComb and Teddy Sanders (Suzanne); five grandchildren Happy Sanders Sullivan (Charlie) of Seminary, MS, Brian Sanders (Keri) of McComb, Amanda Brown (Daniel) of Hattiesburg, MS, Shannon Schaffler (Will) of Dallas, TX, and Lindsay Sanders (fiance' Miguel Martinella) of Ponchatoula, LA; eight great-grandchildren Blake and Brandon Sullivan, Austin and Riley Sanders, Shea and Peyton Brown, and Quin and Ella Kate Schaffler, one great-great grandson Brody Sanders and one great-great granddaughter Madeline Sullivan.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.

The family would like to extend our appreciation to the staff at McComb Nursing and Rehab for all the care and kindness given to our mother through the years. She was always very grateful to so many of you who took time to see to her needs. We also want to thank St. Luke's Hospice for making her final days comfortable.
