Jessie William "J.W." Holmes, 85, a resident of Lincoln County, MS, passed away at the Veteran's Home in Collins, MS on September 22, 2024.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024 from 5 PM until 8 PM and continue Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 9 AM until services at 11 AM at Hartman Jones Funeral Home. Rev. Millard Moak and Rev. Larry Russell will officiate. Burial will be at Montgomery Baptist Church Cemetery.

J.W. was born on October 19, 1938 in Tupelo, MS to the late Marvin W. Holmes and Theresa Price Holmes.  He served in the 82nd Airborne and the National Guard. He worked and lived all over the world in the oil industry. He loved his dog Dixie and sitting outside with her, waving to the neighbors as they drove by. He had a passion for firearms and vehicles. He was a wonderful and loving provider, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joann Moak Holmes of Summit, MS; his son Troy William Holmes of Purvis, MS; his daughter Clancy Walker (Royd) of Sandhill, MS; his brother Ronnie Holmes (Debbie); four grandchildren Kayla Ray (Cal), Matthew Smith (Laken), Grayson Walker, and Emalyn Walker; four great-grandchildren Riley Ray, Maggie Ray, Jude Smith, and Jack Smith; his beloved dog Dixie; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Cal Ray, Grayson Walker, Jason Price, Frank Price, Mike Moak, and Ken Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Brown, Stan Long, David Earl Moak, Eugene Moak, and Elliott Moak.
