Jewell Jackson Young, 89, a resident of Summit, MS; passed away July 5, 2022, at McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM. Dr. David Millican will officiate services. Private burial will be held in Hollywood cemetery. Hartman Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Young was born on March 3, 1933, in Glen Allan, MS to Stanley and Myrtis Jackson.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Summit. She graduated from Southwest MS Community College where she obtained Certificate of Practical Nursing and worked as an LPN at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center for many years.
In her free time, Mrs. Young enjoyed spending time with her pet Daschund, Lucy and exploring her love for arts & crafts. She would try anything from painting along with Bob Ross, sculpting clay, jewelry making, and sewing, and even sometimes found herself outside building various woodworks or tending her vegetable garden. She was always eager to learn new things and would fully engage herself into whatever her newfound hobby was at the time. Her most recent hobby was learning different recipes from a host of YouTube chefs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her spouse James Spencer Young, Sr., her children Judy Young; Jimmy Young, Jr.; Kathy Whittington and Annette Barron, her grandchildren Eddie Flory, Jr, and James S "Jimmy" Young, III, her brother Clarence Jackson.
She is survived by her grandchildren Chris Young and his wife Cheryl of Summit, MS, Michael Barron of Hattiesburg, MS, Allen Barron of McComb, MS, April McKenzie and her husband Kevin of McComb, MS; Great-Grandchildren Christopher Young of Chicago, IL, Brandon Clark of McComb, MS, Anna McKenzie of McComb; Great-Great Grandchildren Jaxon Barron of Jayess, MS and Logan McKenzie of McComb, MS along with numerous other relatives and friends.
