Jimmy Wayne Yarbrough, 80, of Willow Spring, NC, and formerly of Whiteville, NC and Magnolia, MS, died January 18, 2025, at The Enclave House in Clayton, NC.
A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held 6:00-8:00 pm March 7, at Mallard Restaurant in Summit, MS. A private burial will take place in Hollywood Cemetery in McComb, MS.
Jim was born December 4, 1944, in Magnolia, MS, to Dewitt Earl and Callie Francis Barefield Yarbrough.
He retired from International Paper Company in Riegelwood, NC and was a former president of the Whiteville High School Athletic Association and recipient of the 12th Man Award. Jim was active in Whiteville youth athletics for many years coaching baseball and football.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay Ogletree Yarbrough and his granddaughter, Sadie Elizabeth Yarbrough as well as siblings, Earline Byrd and Jessie Yarborough.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Nikki Kay Sargent and Steve of Fuquay Varina, NC; sons and daughters-in-law, Brad Evan Yarbrough and Hope of Apex, NC and Chad Evert Yarbrough and Sara of Clayton, NC; and seven granddaughters, Gretchen and Campbell Sargent, Callie and Evan Yarbrough and Alysanna, Victoria and Mary Reagan Yarbrough. He is also survived by siblings, Bobby Yarbrough, Diane Ivey and Wayne Yarbrough.
