Joan Hurtt Caston, 95, of Summit, MS passed away Wednesday August 5, 2026 at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday evening at Hartman Jones Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 and continues Saturday at Tangipahoa Baptist Church from 1:00 until services at 2:00. Burial will follow in Whittington Cemetery. Rev. Mike Morris and Bro. Cannon Ward will officiate.

She was born on May 13, 1931 in Greenwood, KY to the late Samuel Clifford Hurtt and Stella Elizabeth Sumner Hurtt.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a homemaker and longtime member of Tangipahoa Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery, beautification committee, and assisted with baptisms. She was a wonderful caregiver.

Mrs. Caston was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Hilton Bernard Caston; sister Linda Hurtt Smith; grand daughter in law Lauren Wilkinson; great grandson Thomas Stewart and brother in law Sam Bradley.

She is survived by Victoria Brill and her husband Charles (Rusty); Cindy Wilkinson and Tommy Harvey; Carol Easley and her husband Darrell; Tracy McDonald and her husband Ken; grandchildren Jennifer Lea (Scott), Mallory Ward (Cannon), Nicole Small (Seth), Heather Bertucci (Brad), Dane Wilkinson, Ashley Choudoir (Francois), Kayla Bean (Austin), John Caston McDonald, Jake Easley, Tyler Harvey (Baili), Anna Stewart (Blake), Kena McDonald; great grandchildren Tucker Ward, Lynsie Small, Eli Harvey, Briar Rose Ward, Hudson Lea, Travis Harvey, Cash Ward, Kinsley Wilkinson, Amelia Bean, Piper Stewart, Kenna Bean, Baylor Stewart, Wyatt Harvey, Everly Victoria Small, Everett Choudoir, Corbin Choudoir, Harvey Bean and Adler Choudoir; one sister Jean Bradley; brother in law Danny Smith; sister in law Mary Ellen Barrett; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Verline, Susan, Mary, Delores, the staff of Hospice Compassus and a special friend Sue Marion.
